Summary
he main duties of the candidate will be implementation of laboratory experiments and collection of data. The laboratory studies human adrenal disorders and is part of the internationally renowned Michigan Adrenal Group. The laboratory relies heavily on liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) utilization. Laboratory techniques used include: serum sample extraction for LC-MS/MS analysis, PCR, mRNA and DNA isolation, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, genotyping, cell culture, tissue microdissection, luciferase-mediated bioluminescence assays etc. Previous experience with these techniques is desired.

Responsibilities*
Additional responsibilities: maintain laboratory documentation for experimental analysis, condition and cleanliness of the lab, and instrument maintenance, help in ordering laboratory equipment and supplies and keeping the laboratory stocked at all times; present data at lab meetings; assist in the procurement, storage, maintenance of laboratory compliance with university regulatory agencies and documentation of data and tissues.
Performs independent analyses of pertinent literature.
Responsible for writing certain components of progress reports and manuscripts. Expected to co-author publications and CO-present results with the PI in formal meetings.
Responsible for coordinating the implementation of specified components of research design analysis.
Takes a responsible role in developing complex research support systems (computer, statistical and mathematical models, and instrumentation systems).
Able to evaluate results and recommend improvements in research design and modeling.
Required Qualifications*
Research Area Specialist Intermediate Requirements;
Bachelor's in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry or closely related field plus 4-5 years' experience in a research laboratory in a related field.
Research Area Specialist Associate Requirements;
Bachelor's Degree is required. 1-3 years of experience in a related field.

- Master's Degree or Doctoral Degree
- The successful candidate must also have a history of working well in a team environment and contributing to an enthusiastic and productive laboratory atmosphere.

Background Screening
